How to Look Great at the Pool

Are you someone who runs to the pool come summer, or one who runs for cover?  Either way, bathing suit season is upon us and Martha Rey has just the right bathing suits to make you look forward to the sun.  Here are some things to think about when gearing up for looking your best at the pool.

Start things out with the perfect swim suit.  It really can do wonders for your look.  Gone are the days of just deciding between a one piece or a two piece.  Women have numerous options today.   A suit can accentuate your favorite features, or hide that not-so-perfect part of you.   There are also a number of types of wraps, dresses, and cover-ups to go with your swimwear.  Many of these stylish options are the perfect match for your swimsuit.  They're made to be easy to take off and put back on at the pool, they keep you cool and covered up at the same time, and compared to cut-offs and a t-shirt, a great cover-up or dress is can bring a little fashion to the pool.

Accessories are the next consideration.  The top of that list is a great pair of sunglasses.  Not only will this protect your eyes from sun damage, but they show your personal style and can compliment your face shape.  Also, try out a cute floppy hat to protect against future wrinkles.  Should you wear jewelry?  If the answer is yes for you, keep it simple.  Make sure you don't mind that ring or bracelet getting lost in the pool.   Simple stud earrings or a cute anklet are always a good choice.  Finally, be prepared and organized with a stylish beach bag to hold your towel, sunscreen, and other pool necessities.

There are more things to consider on your way to the pool.  When was the last time your toes saw the light of day? Don't forget to get a manicure, or trim and paint them on your own.  Your toes will be out for everyone to see!  Makeup is another thing that some people do want to wear to the pool and others don't.  If you do plan to wear it, waterproof mascara is a must.  There are other types of waterproof makeup, as well, but, this is good time to keep it simple.  You can still put on the basic elements of makeup without having the appearance of a mask.  Additionally, you'll want to keep your hair in mind.   Start deep conditioning weekly.  The sun can do damage to your hair, so it's important to keep it hydrated to look its best.  As long it doesn't look like you slaved over it, many hairstyles can look great at the pool. Try a loose ponytail, braids, or the loose bohemian style—very trendy!  Finally, protecting yourself is a part of ensuring a great look at the pool.  Always apply sunscreen before exposure to the sun.  If having a tan is important to you, save your skin and look at the options for an artificial tan.

Going to the pool should be a relaxing summer activity.  When you take a little time to work on looking your best at the pool, you're bound to have more confidence and be able to focus on what matters—having fun.

vera tote, curvy tote, or supertote?
and which print--- riviera blue, peacock, or windsor navy?

Hi there. Personally, I like the classic lines of the "Vera Tote." But, I think that you need to take into consideration how much you'd like to carry in the bag, because if you carry a lot of stuff then the "Supertote" might be a better fit for you. I think the same personal choice applies when it comes to color, I'd think about what colors you wear the most often and then I'd chose the pattern that compliments your wardrobe the best. My favorite is the Windsor Navy, which is retiring soon. I hope that helped...

The New Price of Luxury – Caribbean Hotels Trim their Tariffs to Meet a Need

Now that the recession is officially over, we British people are starting to think about going off on holiday again. And what better way, frankly, to do that than by booking in for a week or two at one of the top notch Caribbean hotels that have been busy created designer tariffs to suit a post-downturn wallet? The owners of some of the best hotels in the islands have recognised that luxury needs a new price tag – and so they've developed a set of fees and tempting offers in line with current fiscal climates. The result? Perfect luxury, perfect escapism: at perfect prices.

One of the most innovative hotels on the Barbadian shores has always been the aptly named Treasure Beach, which has a reputation for leading its competitors when it comes to design, fitting and of course cost. Of all the Caribbean hotels, Treasure Beach was perhaps the first to respond to the needs of the post recession customer, offering spectacular pampering packages for cut rate prices in an effort to bring business back to the island. Treasure Beach, like so many of its compatriots, felt the bite as foreign trade dropped off during the worldwide financial crisis. Unlike some of its rivals, though, the Barbadian gem didn't sulk and it didn't go into hiding. Instead, it worked out tariffs that quickly started to attract former customers back to its cleverly disguised complex for a well-deserved break from the troubles of their native economies.

"Cleverly disguised" - because, again, Treasure Beach has led other Caribbean hotels, when it comes to creating an atmosphere. This particular hotel, like one or two of the cleverer others, has managed to make an enclosed private compound look and feel like an integral part of the island. That means customer who feel that they are genuinely getting an island experience – without being exposed to the risks that experience can come with. It's all about keeping people safe without making it too obvious. Most of the more successful Caribbean hotels have achieved this trick in some measure – though perhaps none so much as Treasure Beach, whose unique tropical gardens for a barrier between the hotel and the island proper, but which just look like a natural part of Barbados' lush vegetation. There's a private beach, too, allowing visitors to wander those Barbadian shores happily, held in the illusion that they are living a part of the island life that visitors really don't get to see under normal circumstances.

Like every other business in the world, Caribbean hotels have had to adapt to the new economic circumstances of global markets. Since their income is brought in solely by tourists, and since tourism can be one of the first things to die off in times of monetary trouble, they've had to think and work fast. Fortunately, for all those happy holiday makers, they've done a bang up job. Money might be tight and times might be troubling – but in Barbados, the land of "no worries", it doesn't matter. Holidaying in the Caribbean is as much of an escape as ever.
