maxxima in wall digital timer switch there are 4 wires my wall only has 3?
I have a digital in wall timer (Maxxima) and for the life of me i cannot understand the instructions. they are as follows: connect the hot wire of the building to the black wire from the timer. Connect the neutral wire of the building to the neutral wire on the timer (white). Connect the light wire to the red wire from the timer. Then there is this green wire hanging out, with no instructions for it.
My house has the following: Black, White and unprotected copper. My copper does not carry a current (so it would seem) as i can touch it with the house power on. Normally it goes to the green screw on a socket/plug/receptacle.
if i read the instructions right... then black would go to black on the house, red on the switch would go to white on the house, white would go to the bare copper wire.... where does the green wire go??? To the screw mounting the switch to the wall?
The neutral/ground wire in the wall is the incoated copper wire. Connect that to the green wire on the timer.
The black wire in the wall is the hot wire. That will connect to the red wire on the timer.
The White wire completes the circuit and will connect to the red on the timer.
