Electronic drum set for x-mas present--need advice!?

I was thinking about getting an electronic drum set for my boyfriend for Christmas but I don't really know anything about them. I've noticed that a lot of the sets are over $1,000 and I don't want to spend that much. I found this one on the Best Buy website but I'm not sure if it would be any good

I bought an OSP DD-502 MkII on ebay for under $300 including shipping. Definitely not a "nice" kit, but it has served me well in learning the basics behind drumming. Still worth the money for someone who wants to learn.
