How to get to the Exumas from Nassau?
I'm planning a trip to Nassau , Bahamas in May and I would like to visit the Exumas for a day. I heard that you can rent a little boat on Nassau and ride it to one of the Exuma islands. Is it possible to stop on a small random island for a picnic? If so where do you rent these boats and how much does it cost to rent? Thanks for the help!
1)How can it take 4 hours when the exumas are only 30 miles from nassau?
2) Do you mean jet ski to the exumas? lol
Thanks so much for the help!
First - It can take 3 or 4 hours by boat to reach the Exuma island chain. Beautiful boating for sure , but it would take most of the day in travel for this.
Second is you need to know how to navigate for such a distance. Easy to get lost as I have done it.
Picnic - sure pick an island . Most are not even inhabited , just small little islands with it all to yourself.
Myself - I would rent a little boat in Nassau and just go out and have your picnic , close to Nassau .
Jet Skiii would be even better ! Gas is about $ 7 a gallon .
EDIT = I think we are taliking about renting a 13 to 16 foot boat ? Not a Yacht or anything........
All that thing has is a small outboard engine , not like you are going to do 55 mph ! Trust me it is a long way for a day trip . I guess you could do it but after gas and rental you would be looking at $ 400 to $ 500 for sure !
Oh yeah , you COULD jet skii over there , no problem and faster .
30 miles mixed with a small engine , waves, and the beauty of the ride - easy 3 to 4 hours - one way. I have rented a boat many times and even I get a little lost just within the Exumas island chain. You need to be a fairly knowledgable boater to do this long trip and not get lost .
