Going Off to a Skiing Resort? Take a Crack At These Packing Recommendations For Your Trip
You're ready to hit the ski slopes and delight in your future skiing adventure! To help you get the most from your trip, these are several techniques for making sure you've got everything you need when you arrive at your vacation destination.
First, and this may seem silly, but imagine that you're packing for the beach instead of a ski trip. Make sure you protect your eyes and your skin from the UV rays at higher altitudes. Pack appropriately rated sunscreen, lip balm and sunglasses or goggles. Also, after a great day on the slopes, you're probably going to want to relax in the hot tub, so make sure you bring your swimsuit and flip flops or sandals.
Second, make sure you have enough clothing packed. You'll need appropriate outerwear for both your time on the slopes, and for when you're just sightseeing or hanging around the resort. Pack enough ski socks for the trip, being sure to remember that socks will get wet so you'll need some extra pairs. And, most importantly, make sure you have ski gloves!
Most ski towns are pretty casual environments, so be sure to pack casual clothing for your time off the slopes. Obviously, the more clothes you pack that can do double duty for both outside and inside, the better prepared you'll be when the weather conditions change.
Third, consider bringing along a portable boot and glove dryer. There's nothing like waking up to dry boots and gloves for another day on the slopes!
Fourth, pack your actual ski equipment like poles and skis! If you're flying, most airlines will charge you extra for taking ski gear with you, so keep that in mind. Another option is to leave your skis and poles at home, and simply rent what you need at the resort. A benefit of renting is that you might be able to try out the latest and greatest ski gear that you might not otherwise purchase!
Finally, be sure you have your paperwork ready, especially if you've made a lot of prior reservations. So, pack those lift tickets, rental agreements, and flight arrangements where you can access them easily. This paperwork is vital to a smooth and enjoyable trip! If you need your Passport because you're going out of the country, be sure you pack that as well.
Pack strategically and thoughtfully before you leave. Be sure to think of multiple uses of each garment, and choose items for comfort. Plan ahead and your trip will be smooth and enjoyable. You'll look great on and off the slopes and be ready for just about any situation!
