Girls Pajamas - How To Hold A Classic Pajama Party

Pajama parties used to be very popular among teens and pre-teens, but who says you can't hold one for your young toddlers and 6 year olds. You can have a classic sleepover for your kids and their friends where they can come in their best girls pajamas. You can also do the same for boys and have guests come in their favorite boys footed pajamas.

Pajama parties though, have always been more popular among girls. Before you start inviting your friend's and neighbors kids to your pajama party, you have to plan the event first to make in interesting for your guests. Try to think like a child and think of activities they will enjoy. Expect the kids to stay up all night because that is mainly what pajama parties are all about.

If your guests consist of younger kids, they will want fun activities that will keep them busy. Think of activities that will create special bonding with their friends, not solo activities. If your guests are a bit older, like 7 years old and above, expect them to want some privacy so they can talk all night and share secrets amongst themselves.

Let your invitees know about the pajama party in advance and ask all your young guests to come in their favorite girls pajamas. If they have little brothers they want to bring along, then they can come too in their footed pajamas. Plan your events and start with the decorations. Of course a pajama party should be decorated with a lot of pillows, futons, bean bag chairs, large cushions or throw pillows, and blankets.

Scatter the futons or folding mattresses in corners and place some large throw pillows and regular pillows on top of them. Don't forget to provide a blanket or two for each sleeping area. You can hold a pajama party in a large part of the house like the attic, the family den, or in your child's bedroom if it is large enough to hold several people.

Have some extra girls pajamas in case of "accidents". Place them in the venue and let the kids know they are welcome to use them if they need to change for some reason. Decorate the room with glow in the dark stickers. Place some balloons and streamers around the room. If your guests are below 6 or 7 years old, you can decorate the room with stuffed toys. Get creative and dress a large stuffed teddy bear in footed pajamas.

Provide dim lighting from lampshades. If you are holding a pajama party for girls, provide some mirrors, makeup kits, and fashion accessories. Girls like to beautify themselves and play around with makeup. If you will have older kids at the party, provide some nail polish and home facial kits. Organize a fashion show and provide prizes for the top 3 contestants in the prettiest girls pajamas.

The all time favorite of pajama party goers is the movie time. So rent some wholesome DVDs and set up the wide screen TV in the party room. Create games such as decorating contest for slippers and pillow cases. Let them create their own novelty slippers that they can take home after the party. Provide the slippers, art supplies and craft tools for them. You can also have a treasure hunting game for younger kids.

Last but not the least, provide food for the party. This is when midnight snacks become legal and encouraged. Some foods you can have are microwave popcorn, S'mores, chocolate bars, and pizza for the really hungry ones. Other food stuff you should have are ice cream, cookies, cake and chocolate drinks. If the drinks spill, you'll have extra girls pajamas and footed pajamas standing by, so don't worry about that part.

Talk to the parents of your little guests and take each other's phone numbers. Post emergency numbers near the kitchen phone and make sure that all the parents of your guests know that they are at your home for a pajama party.

Make a laminated bookmark: find pictures of the two of you - it can be a few small pics or just one, glue it to construction paper (you can make it two-sided), make sure you know how wide you want it to be before you start with the glue, then take it to Staples/Office Max, Office Depot or a store like that and get it laminated, then cut it. After hole-punch the top and put a ribbon or twine of some kind through the hole and tie it in a knot.

Make a 'love jar' and fill it with origami hearts, flowers and slips of paper with notes of appreciation written on them or 'I love you' written in different languages (on the back write which language it is).
