Which hotel in Cancun has the best beach, locations and all inclusive amenities?
I am tired of looking at tripadvisor and trying to weigh up the pros and cons of Cancun hotels. I want to stay somewhere that has a great beach with good swimming water, in a central location and has lots of all inclusive entertainment and places to eat. I thought the Riu Cancun looked nice but people say that there is no sun and that the rooms are uncomfortable. I am also interested in the Moon Palace but am put off by reports of horrible ocean and the fact that it is so far away from Cancun. Please can someone give me a balanced view to help me make a decision!
Cancun is not that big so the beaches, sun, etc. are all about the same. You probably do not want to say on the lagoon side nor the top of the "7" however. Stay on the ocean side. However, when I was there last March, the Gran Carribe Real had NO beach. It had been washed away or perhaps there never was beach there. Not sure.
Before the hurricane, the Gran Porto Real in Playa was excellent. A nice place, with good service and a great beach, nice pool, and excellent location to walk two blocks to restaurants and a quarter mile to town square. I highly recommend it but have not heard how it is post-hurricane. We like not being locked into our resort and having to rely on a shuttle to get to town, thus the other resorts were not an option for us.
Decide what level of service you want then look for a resort on Cancun's east facing shore and you should be fine. Otherwise head to Playa and stay in Playa not "just outside."
I will be in Cancun next week. Write me a week Friday and I can give you more info. dmjbec @ yahoo.com
