Can I bring a small suitcase, purse and a laptop as carry-ons on Delta airlines?

I am traveling to Minneapolis, MN in the spring for a volleyball tournament. I cannot check my clothes in case they lose my baggage because then I would not be able to play. So my question is can i bring a small suitcase, a purse and a laptop in a sleeve as long as i put the laptop in my purse, or is that considered 3 carry-ons?
